The Agape Forum - Website Design Notes

The Target

A group of like minded people who are geographically spread across the United States wanted to be able to share ideas and get feedback from their peers. Graphics were not a major issue, but the age of some of the members required that whatever was done for a website, it had to be easy to use, easy to navigate and easy to see.

Search Engine Optimization

Agape Forum is primarily a "By Invitation" type of website. SEO optimization was not an important issue.

Security

Password protection necessary for author areas and to minimize spammers, bulletin board membership requires approval by admin prior to the visitor being allowed to post.

Main Functions

• A membership based forum
• A place for authors to add their articles
• General information pages for Authors bios
• A download area for mp3 and pdf downloads.

Budget

The simplicity of this project allowed us to use an almost totally stock PHPbb forum. The only board design changes were to create a text logo. The author area was custom written using PHP with a MySql database for article posts and author password validation.

Future Growth

Since this website was designed using PHP and MySql, growth is easily managed by simply adding modules.
